Previous two rounds of the World Cup were for many European riders hardly reachable as they took place in the South-African Pietermaritzburg and Australian Cairns. “We are expecting a large amount of participants not only for being the first European World Cup of the season, but also for the highly appreciated conditions and excellent spectators’ attendance, which is for many riders a huge allurement,” said the Secretary General Petr Vaněk.
Auspiciously looks also the candidacy of the Nové Město organizing team for hosting the MTB World Championships in July 2016. “Rescheduled date of the WCH before the Olympics is very attractive for us. This way was the WCH given a totally different meaning than if it was about to take place a month after the Olympics,” remarked the General Manager Ján Svorada.
So far organizers submitted the candidacy, deposited the leaf charge and now they are expecting the decision, which is supposed to be made on June 12. “It is important to us, that the UCI agreed on dividing the three MTB disciplines of the World Championships. We don’t have necessary length to organize the downhill Championships and it was already given to the organizing team from Austrian Leogang. It means that we are having good chances, “said Svorada.
Originally the Nové Město team intended to set their candidacy for the World Champs up to 2017 or 2018. “We want to use the great shape of Czech riders who should be by 2016 on their TOP level. Therefore we want to bring the WCH to our country in earlier date,“ clarified Svorada.
Comparing to last year the race track went through several slight changes. „We lengthened the loop up to 4,2 km. We adjusted one section so that it gained even more attractiveness for TV spectators. Also, on difficult Rubena Choice section we perceived the riders’ impulse – not that we would make the section easier, but we definitely gave more room to the safety elements, said the Course Director Lukáš Vlach.
Next week there are several riders coming to Nove Město to check the race track, one of them should be Ondej Cink. „We have the race track ready, we only need to receive a feedback for some spots from the riders to be all set,“ added Vlach.
For spectators is aside from other programs prepared also the aerial show of the Red Bull Air Race acrobat Martin Šonka.
