Same as the Czech Olympic team members Lea Johanidesová and Michal Krčmář, there are a few other foreign participants who have reserved themselves a place on their national team for Sochi. The main stars of the upcoming champs, based on the results in the season so far, are Florian Graf of Germany and Fanny Welle-Strand Horn of Norway. The 24-year-old German is currently on 43. Place in the overall World Cup winning the total of 94 points. His results in Nové Město have been up and down so far. He finished on 7. place in one of the World Cup events two years back. At the last year’s World Championships his best result was 40. Place in the Individual event.
The German team includes another strong contender for a medal – the 23-year-old Benedikt Doll, who took silver in one of the IBU Cup events in the Italian Rindaun. His current best World Cup result is the 6. place from last year’s Olympic World Cup test in Sochi.
The Norwegian Fanny Horn is currently 35. in the women’s overall World Cup. 25-year-old student from Oslo has already been to three World Championships. She raced in three events of the last year’s World Championships with 35. place from Sprint being her best result.
The current entry lists include over twenty biathletes who managed to score points in this year’s World Cup season. The field of competitors is promising exciting biathlon racing with plenty of tight results.
